A versatile middle layer

NHS reference: 20–24°C (about 68–75°F)

Consider a 1.0 TOG sleep sack. Adjust the clothing underneath for your baby and the product's design, then check for overheating.

The TOG guide, at a glance.

Higher TOG means more thermal insulation. Room temperature is only one part of the decision.

How to read this chart: NHS room-temperature guidance applies to the 0.5, 1.0 and 2.5 TOG rows. Boundaries overlap and individual layering matters. The 1.5 TOG row is a BubblePanda product option, not an NHS-assigned temperature range.

💤   THE LITTLE DETAILS

Three checks before bedtime.

More helpful than following a temperature chart alone.

🌡️01

Read the room

Measure the temperature where your baby sleeps rather than relying on the outdoor weather.

🧸02

Consider every layer

Factor in pajamas, the sleep sack's TOG, sleeves and your baby's individual needs. Follow the garment instructions.

💛03

Check baby's chest

Feel the chest or back of the neck. If hot or sweaty, remove a clothing layer. Cool hands or feet alone are not a reliable guide.

✨   GOOD TO KNOW

A few little questions.

Does the NHS recommend a specific temperature for 1.5 TOG?+

No. The NHS publishes general bands for 0.5, 1.0 and 2.5 TOG commercial sleeping bags, but not a separate 1.5 TOG band. BubblePanda's 1.5 TOG collection includes long-sleeve styles, so the overall outfit needs to be considered.

Should I add a blanket when the room is cold?+

Not over a sleep sack. The Lullaby Trust advises adjusting suitable clothing layers or considering a higher-TOG sleeping bag if your baby feels cold. Avoid loose blankets and other soft objects in an infant's sleep space.

Is 72°F the only safe nursery temperature?+

No. There is no single temperature that guarantees safe sleep for every baby. Use the room temperature as a starting point, choose clothing and a suitable sleep sack, check for signs of overheating and follow established safer sleep practices.
